0 and 1 are probabilities.

That shocking title is, amazingly, controversial outside the statistics and mathematics community. I think it was a computer "scientist" who said implied otherwise, or, at least, a hobbyist in the field. If you ever run into somebody saying something so transparently false, run. Don't walk.

No one who has ever used a rand() function could ever say such a thing. I mean, these are the terms in which probability is defined, come on. What was the original context?
